When and why did you become a fan of Jeff Gordon?
Well, in the mid nineties I first saw this cool rainbow car. Then I was hearing "wonder boy", "the kid", the "rainbow warriors" and Jeff Gordon, finally got to watch a whole race and put two and two together. It took a few races - lol. Then I heard about his support of the Marrow Donor program - that hooked me because of Rick Hendrick and Ray Evernham’s son. And as he has gotten more popular and made more money, he continues to find ways to give to those in need, especially kids, that is wonderful and generous and he is one of the most caring people I've heard about and he enjoys doing it. He has a good heart and that is a great characteristic to have. I also liked it when he drank milk when he won the championship, because he wasn't old enough to drink champagne. He's come a long way.
What is your favorite thing about Jeff Gordon?
His giving, his love for his family and his respect for those that helped get him where he’s at - a 4 time champion. And, that he knows that his fans helped get him there too. His loyalty stands out.
What is your race day routine?
If I watch at home, I make sure the house is clean, quick snacks are ready and I park myself right in front of the TV, but I usually don't sit for to long because I’m too busy jumping and screaming. My kids say, "Wow, Nanna can get some air!" and the grandkids are usually right there with me if their here, going "Go Jeff Gordon, Go Jeff Gordon!" If I'm at the track, I deck out my van, inside and out, with stickers and license plates (that stay in and on my van window year round), flags, sun shade, blankets and throws to cover dash and put in windows, pillows, coolers (several), bags and back packs, my blow up 24 Pepsi car that I put on top of my van and I bring my years of photo albums to show and share and any extra Jeff #24 stuff and some other drivers’ stuff I have I bring and give to friends I meet .
What is your favorite memory of Jeff Gordon?
His Texas win hands down. It was a long time coming. He looked like a big weight had lifted at that very moment. I was there and saw it in person. I was hanging on the fence boo-hooing. People were coming up and shaking my hand, hugging me and congratulating me, telling me he did a great job. I could hardly breathe and my grin lasted a long time. When I got home, I watched it all over again and even though I knew the outcome I was still standing, jumping and screaming. I protected that one on my dish recordings.
If you could choose to have any Jeff Gordon collectible, what would it be?
A signed helmet or gloves or window net from his Texas win, or just a good signed picture of him in front of the car he drove and won at Texas. It would be really cool to have him sign one of the pictures I took of that win.
What is your favorite #24 paint scheme?
His Texas win scheme, Ella's car, the 20th anniversary DuPont car and the fire and flames.
